Intro
Tourism Malaysia, the national agency responsible for promoting Malaysia on a global stage, needed a reliable and engaging digital gateway to inspire international travellers. Their existing e-brochure microsite had become a point of friction — plagued by unclear user journeys, confusing navigation, and high bounce rates. Compounding the challenge, legacy files from the previous vendor were unavailable, making a simple fix impossible.

We recognised that Tourism Malaysia needed more than a functional microsite. They required a stable, scalable platform that could clearly communicate the country’s diverse offerings, serve multiple global markets, and support long-term growth.
The Challenge
Tourism Malaysia’s e-brochure microsite suffered from flawed user journeys, confusing navigation, and high bounce rates. The unavailability of previous vendor files necessitated a complete rebuild, posing a significant challenge to creating a stable, engaging national platform for global visitors to explore Malaysia from the web.
Our Strategy & Solution
Rebuilding for Stability and Scale
With no usable legacy files, we re-engineered the microsite from the ground up using our own clean structure and technology stack. This eliminated technical debt, ensured long-term stability, and created a future-ready foundation for expansion.
Designing User-Centric Journeys
We rethought the information architecture and crafted clear, intuitive user journeys for each e-brochure title. Navigation was streamlined to help visitors quickly find relevant content, reducing friction and improving engagement.
Transforming Static Content into Interactive Experiences
To move beyond traditional brochures, we introduced interactive features such as maps, itinerary planning tools, and live weather updates. In total, we designed and launched 10 distinct e-brochure titles, turning static information into immersive travel guides.
Enabling Global Accessibility and Internal Control
Understanding Tourism Malaysia’s key international markets, we implemented a robust multilingual framework supporting both English and Chinese. We also built a dedicated internal dashboard, allowing their team to independently manage event listings and calendars with ease.
Ensuring Enterprise-Level Performance
The platform was deployed on Microsoft Azure, with HIP providing end-to-end cloud infrastructure and server management. This ensured high performance, security, and scalability appropriate for a national-level digital platform.

The rebuilt microsite delivered measurable improvements aligned with Tourism Malaysia’s national tourism goals:
